Album Review- Maybach Music Group - Self Made Vol. 2
Rick Ross is one of the hottest artists in the game now and of course when you're on top you have to establish your own label and last year, Ross officially did that last year with Self- Made Volume 1. On it he officially introduced Meek Mill, added Wale into the fold and also featured Miami artist Pill as well. A new year and some slight changes have been made, Meek has an album coming up and

Album Review- Killer Mike - R.A.P. Music
Killer Mike is one of those slept on artists who manages to have street sensibility with somewhat conscious lyrics. He has struggled to go beyond the underground however, but his most recent affiliation with T.I.'s Grand Hustle imprint looks to improve upon his success. He dropped an album last year and 2012 brings us a new EP from the man who once changed his name to Mike Bigga in an attempt to

Album Review- B.O.B. - Strange Clouds
Strange Clouds has been out for a long ass time and I didn't even think there was going to be an album. I thought it was just a random song but apparently B.O.B. flew under my radar this time and his newest album just dropped, titled after the hit with Lil' Wayne. Here is my album review of B.O.B. Strange Clouds.
The album opens with a short monologue by Morgan Freeman before B.O.B. goes in

Can you cover hip-hop?
Now a lot of people might look and look confused by this because as rap and hip-hop fans what is valued over most things is originality. If you're in a band of any sort, you will have played your favorite songs from other artists well before you get known for writing your own. That's just how you learn to play, how you practice different techniques and get an appreciation for music in that sense.

Album Review- Maino - The Day After Tomorrow
So Maino is one of the harder artists to really judge because looking at him he lacks the obvious rap skills to be a success. However, he makes up for that with reality and passion but also has the negative of being from New York at a time when only Southern rappers who have the same style can get exposure. His first album was a moderate success and this one was pushed back some but the next day

The "Boss" conundrum
Maybe it isn't as much of a conundrum as it is annoying that everyone thinks they are a boss of something now in rap. I'll give credit where it is due, Ross has certainly seemed to personify this attitude and take it to the net level, even though, just like wrestlers, it isn't what he first started out as. Much like going from a Heel to Face can make someone blow up, thus it is with rappers. Do a

Disappointment of the year 2011- As Is Hip Hop awards
Now this might be my favorite award to give out in a way because I consider this the one that is designed to keep people honest. Of course whenever you say something is a disappointment you're going to get some opinions because you're stepping on some people's toes.

Puff is officially gone...
I used to be a fan of Puffy. Even though he had killed his own label by focusing on himself as the main attraction and couldn't launch acts successfully after featuring them for weeks on MTV. I don't drink but he built the ciroc brand into a formidable entity and his Sean John label is the only line of hip-hop urban gear that still has life left in it. He has dabbled in acting and spreading out

Top 55 of All Time? - Part 4
Part 4 of my series and countdown of the top 55 (56) rappers in my all time list. The last edition ended with Big Boi of the illustrious group Outkast at number 37 so let's continue.
36. Ja Rule - He is definately not the best lyricist to ever enter the game but he was the top artist from 2001 until 2003 or so until a beef with 50 Cent derailed what was a successful career. His debut album was

Album Review- Killer Mike- Pledge
This is the album I have been looking forward to the most this year. Killer Mike, that Mike Bigga shit was short lived, has been one of those slept-on yet anticipated artists since he appeared on Outkast's "Whole Wide World" years ago and impressed most people with his street sensibility and ability to outside of the box at the same time. Throughout several independent releases and label strife

T.I. = Pac ?
So T.I. apparently is the latest artist to try and compare himself to Pac (a topic I have to get started on really soon). This is going to be a comparison and attempt to answer if that really makes sense. So first let's look at the arrest records.
Pac is a controversial figure, whose attitude almost started riots at points throughout his career but the first major arrest altercation was in

Album Review- Diddy Dirty Money- Last Train To Paris
So it's been well over a year since Last Train To Paris was supposed to be released. Remember "Angels" and the whole wtf factor for Puff when Jay-z released D.O.A.? Yeah it was that long ago so this album has been gestating for a long time and should be a banger, I mean it is Diddy right? But not necessarily, I mean the idea that Puff is going to spend parts of the album singing in auto-tune

Album Review- T.I.- No Mercy
So T.I. may be back in jail again but his new album is 'free'. The Long awaited follow-up to Paper Trail which was released originally two years ago, an eternity in the new rap game, hits shelves just in time for the holidays. Following a mixtape that had two lackluster singles, No Mercy is Tip's attempt to climb back to the top after his forced hiatus.
The album begins with "Welcome to the

So let's talk another stupid list
BET dropped its list of the top 10 rappers of the 21st century (like we don't know that it's only been 10 years). Once again we have a bunch of people who are kissing ass and not being critical enough of their peers. Taking away Jay-z for no apparent reason other than to not have be named number 1 at something else. Fine I can take that but when i looked at the rankings I noticed that it is

So T.I. is going back to the bing again...
Big surprise considering his recent legal troubles right? Anyway this possible publicity stunt did nothing to reduce the time he received from the judge. It's funny because he has long been one of my favorite artists but when is enough enough? This sense of entitlement by artists and athletes is sickening me now.
The annoying part is he jacks Chris Breezy for this new "don't judge me" track.

When is enough enough?
Okay, so recently I made a post on the Free Your Favorite Rapper campaign, and no sooner does that hit the net then everyone's favorite southern ex-inmate T.I. get arrested yet again for something he could have easily avoided. Now I know, weed is part of the hip-hop culture but when you have had as many strikes as Clifford Harris, you might want to minimize all chances at getting arrested again (

Album Review-Big Boi - Sir Lucious Leftfoot the son of Chico Dusty
So Big boi sort of finally does his own solo thing and I'm pretty sure Atlantic records (where Outkast is based as a group) isn't happy just because they fear a drop in the group's equity and want another album from the duo. For fans of Kast, it provides a small tideover until an actual Outkast album does drop. For Big Boi, it provides and opportunity to prove that he just isn't dead weight tied

Album review- B.O.B. - The Adventures of Bobby Ray
Okay, so it's been quite a road to travel for B.O.B. . A couple of years ago he had a surprise smash with "Haters Everywhere" - a generic Southern rap song that didn't paint an accurate picture of what B.O.B. could actually do and was one of the featured artists on last year's XXL Freshmen 10. Being signed to T.I.'s Grand Hustle records while the main artist was in jail didn't help his status as

I'm not looking forward to T.I.'s new album
Honestly I'm not. I must admit I have been influenced by one of my friends who said that the last couple albums that Clifford has released are the pinnacle of his career and I tend to agree. I mean T.I. would never be confused as a guy who is remotely lyrical. He does however mix the passion and reality of his life and get the ideas across on wax better than most and he does seem genuine but

Top Artists of the decade
So after looking at the best albums, It is only right to just give a little attention to the top artists of the time period. Not much to say other than the sum total of their work over the period is taken into consideration along with their actual skill and influence over the hip-hop community.1. Jay-zlol it's a no brainer, since 1995/96 Jay has been constant on the scene and while we can debate
