Album Review- Maybach Music Group - Self Made Vol. 2

Rick Ross is one of the hottest artists in the game now and of course when you're on top you have to establish your own label and last year, Ross officially did that last year with Self- Made Volume 1. On it he officially introduced Meek Mill, added Wale into the fold and also featured Miami artist Pill as well. A new year and some slight changes have been made, Meek has an album coming up and

Freshman 10 -2012

So every year XXL magazine comes out with it's top 10 freshmen to watch for the next year in hip-hop. The results are often a mixed bag, two years ago Nipsey Hussle was in the top 10 and has yet to see a major label release and his buzz has quieted some, Wale took a label move to finally blow up, and while Big Sean and Mac Miller both released albums last year from their class, the results are

That Niggas Corny

After reading up on what others thought about my boy Childish Gambino's album "Camp" and seeing the comments I felt like I needed to address something that continually cropped up, the idea that Donald Glover is 'corny' because he doesn't talk about the streets. At least thats what my assumption is, but that initial feeling can't be true because Drake and J.Cole both go against the grain and don't

Album Review- Mac Miller- Blue Slide Park

So as the fourth quarter rolls along so do the album releases. The latest is from mac Miller the latest in a series of white rappers soon to be hitting the shelves and the most laid back of them. With the album, Mac is out to have more success than the similar Asher Roth who also just talks about partying and drinking and getting high.

The album starts with a mellow introduction called "

Has Hip-Hop Gotten too mellow?

So recently Jay-z commented on the fact that he thinks weed smoking has gotten to the point where it is affecting hip-hop music in general, making everything extra mellow and soft. A link to his comments is right here courtesy of Contactmusic.com (ironically). The first blush attitude would be to write him off but he isn't completely wrong is he?

Look there are a lot of reasons right now why a

One of my favorite blogs right now

So i have been scouring the web looking for hip-hop blogs that are more like my own, an opinion or independent idea and not just a re-posting of the same gossip and rumor that you find everywhere. Thus i ended up at The Big Ghost Chronicles .

Now I'm not going to say whether or not this blog is by the man the legend himself Mr. Toney Starks aka Ghostface from the Wu Tang Clan but this guy does

Album Review- Big Sean- Finally Famous

Big Sean is one of the new breed of artists that I rarely hear, but he was listed on the XXL Freshmen 10 and is signed to Kanye Wests's GOOD Music so he has some big push behind him. He also was featured on the cypher portion of last years BET Hip-Hop awards although he didn't stand out to me.

The album starts with a simple intro and Sean gets in a decent 16 bars but nothing to get too excited

Not into the Amber Rose phenomenon but...

I was checking blogs and I found this through my man Japiro over on Mark Milly's blog and I figured I need to drop some sort of comment on it. This involves the recent (well a few weeks ago) pictures of Amber Rose's lady parts. As you know, I'm not into celebrity gossip and I try to bring something new into the discussions, but this goes back to one of my earliest blog posts about how mothers

Album Review-Wiz Khalifa- Rolling Papers

Yep, I'm late. What can I say, I lost where I put the cd and I was not about to burn another one for Wiz. While amongst the new generation, he may be the re-incarnation of Snoop/Method Man, for me he is another guy with a lot of hype that I'm waiting to see prove himself. Secoondly, he's from Shittsburg Pittsburg and I'm a Baltimore Raven fan for life.

From the outset, you can get the feeling

Album Review- Snoop Dogg- The Doggumentary

Snoop Dogg is a hip-hop icon and the biggest G to be accepted into every white person's home in America, C-walking and shilling Pepsi Max all the while still rocking a perm and Chuck Taylors. Snoop is back with his 11th album in what is now almost a two decades old mainstream rap career in 2011 trying to be the first household name to make a dent in an anemic 2011 for records.
