Album Review- Nicki Minaj- Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded

The most impressive artist on Young Money/Cash Money is Nicki Minaj by far. Very attractive and off-beat yet still skillful, she has been intriguing since she first came out looking like Lil Kim on her first infamous promo poster. Years later, her style has switched up, she has become more popular, doing songs with Madonna and everyone else, because I mean when Madge is calling you and including

Album Review- Drake- Take Care

So Drake's eagerly awaited follow-up album "Take Care" has leaked and if this is indeed the album, it might just be the best r and b album of the year. That's right, this isn't a hip-hop album in the strictest sense. His first one wasn't either but it's still surprising. So here is my album review of Take Care.

Of course he starts out with singing, though it isn't his on "Over My Dead Body"

Album Review- Lil Wayne- The Carter IV

Some albums you just know what you're going to get before you even press play on the first track so you're not really disappointed when you don't get that goose bump from something being ill, you just shrug and keep it moving. I've felt like that with a lot of albums recently with two exceptions, the Carter 4 isn't one of them. I haven't been a big Wayne fan for years and this album is a shining

Bow wow is still plenty popular...

I was amazed to watch this Bow wow "Everywhere I go" video on worldstar and see how many people still show up to his club dates. Women still fight over his shirts and he still makes money, even though he hasn't put out a successful album in quite a few years. I've never been a Bow wow hater, I remember when he first arrived and my sister was jamming to:

Let me tell you Bow wow's earlier stuff

Album Review- DJ Khaled- We the Best Forever

So the southern replacement for DJ Clue is back with yet another compilation, this time, not on Def Jam but further affiliated with Young Money/Cash Money which I guess  means he is no longer the president of def Jam south (?). DJ Khaled is back with his yearly compilation of the same artists with similar beats. Not looking for a cohesive album, this should be a decent collection of street/radio

Hating is natural if you want to be the best...

I was listening to albums from the past year as I get ready to give out my 'awards' from 2010. One of the candidates, Wale, on his intro song talks about the "crabs" in the DC area. I am now going to hypothesize that if you want to be the best in your area or city and make it to a national stage, at some point, you'll probably be a hater.

The first reason is the simplest, rappers are egotistical

The Source Power 30 for 2010

So i was perusing the hip-hop magazines at the market, cause I refuse to pay for these ass kissing editors and writers; and this month's Source featured the power 30 issue. I generally don't have a problem with them doing this, I'd prefer if they dig into the details of this more during the year and really dig into what makes these people worthy of being the barometers of hip-hop success.

Album Review- Young Money- We Are Young Money

So here we go, finally the Young Money label/crew has completed the long delayed album, just in time for the last minute Christmas rush and itunes gift cards. A larger crew, Young Money is made up of Lil Cuckee, Young Twist (i guess), Tyga, Gudda Gudda, Mack Maine, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Jae Millz, and Shanelle, the token singer. The lead single, "Every Girl" came out before last year's spring break

Album Review - Birdman - Priceless

I took a little hiatus, been tired lately, I probably need to work out, and this isn't the ideal to return to blogging with, a review of Birdman, nee Baby's, latest album, Priceless. Honestly, there isn't going to be much to do because knowing Baby you already know what the album is going to be about. It's like listening to the Ross or 50 Cent album, there is always that inkling that maybe, just

Blueprint 3 vs The Carter 3

Here is the latest blog from my West Coast homie NC-17:I’ve heard it all, The Blueprint III is grown folk rap, a lyrical opus, Jay-Z changing the game… bullshit. The Blueprint III is a lazy effort full of Old Man Logan, cough cough, excuse me Shawn, still talking about not wearing Throwbacks and Cristal being racist. Last time I checked it was 09, and neither of those topics are relevant.Yeah he
