Most disappointing rappers of all time

While having a top 10 discussion on facebook and one of the statements of course involved Canibus when LL was brought up. Canibus was one of the nicest dudes to every put lyric to mic however, he is one of the most disappointing because he didn't have anything close to a career. But that led me to think who are the biggest letdowns when it comes to rappers.

1. Jadakiss- a lot of people have

Album Review- Styles P- Master of Ceremonies

By now, Styles P is a member of Hip-hop history even though it would seem to be at odds with his street persona, he is a rapper. A throwback to a grittier era, this album is a straightforward example of NY hip-hop.

The album starts off with an ode to smoking "This is How i Fly" which features Avery Storm. It sounds like an early 00's album mid-tempo cut and that's exactly what it is. Nothing too

Top 55 of All Time? - Part 2

So in part two, I will continue counting down but let me also clue you in as to why some of your afvorite current rappers aren't in this countdown. I know someone is going to say Drake is better than Mase, why isn't he on the list? The reason is simple, he hasn't done nearly enough to prove himself to me as a critic and a fan. One half assed album does not get you onto the top 55 for me. My

Album Review- Sheek Louch- Donnie G Don Gorilla

So I'm backed up on reviews but I did get to listen to the latest solo effort by the third member of The Lox, my man Sheek Louch. Now most people are busy talking about how nice Jada is or how real Styles keeps it, but I've always preferred Sheek verses to either of them.

The album begins with the "Rhyme Animal" intro and Sheek's bars are sharper than they have been in the past. See he talks

Artists I'd rather hear freestyle...

Listening to as many artists as I have in a while has shown me one thing, just because you can rap, doesn't mean you make good music. Being a good rapper and making good songs are totally independent of one another. For example, Nelly makes good songs, but he can't rap worth a damn. Canibus could rap and 'freestyle' his ass off but as far as songs, eh, not so much. See rappers have ill metaphors,

As Is Hip Hop Awards - Lyricist of the Year

So as we look at hip-hop there is an understanding that all rappers are not created equal. The best way of giving recognition to an artist who may not be the best songwriter, or who showed up other artists on their own songs is to call them a lyricist. This can also sometimes be used as a detriment to an artists by saying "oh he's just a lyricist". For us over here at Yet Another Hip-Hop Blog

As is Hip-Hop Awards - Biggest Disappointment

No one ever gives someone the hip-hop equivalent of a "Razzie", the award for being terrible. Until now, this is not the category you really want to be in because that means they hype didn't match the actual product. Let's start:Number 5:Jim Jones - Pray iv Reign. Now it's not that I expected much from Jimmy but he should be good for a club anthem or maybe two and some new "swagger" terms.

NY Minute

Some people know or heard of this guy French Montana. Me, I only know of him through Worldstar and that he has beef with Jim Jones, makes Dvd's apparently titled Cocaine City (and he hasn't been indicted yet? He must be a liar or an idiot), and rolls with Max B. Seriously though, the song isn't bad at all. I haven't heard much of his stuff but he isn't the worse rapper though I don't know how

Classic Material?

Now in today's climate is is very hard to determine what a hit is. It's not harder however to determine what a classic "album" is. By definition, there are more mixtapes and collections of songs than albums now, however, these all can be considered "albums" in a loose sense. There isn't very many people who can present to me the idea that there are as many classic albums now as there were in the

Letter to B.I.G.

Now this has to be the best Jadakiss song ever. I mean of all the songs and raps he has ever done. It shows what he can do when he is focused on something and actually making an attempt. I cannot understand who would put Jada in their top 5 off of what he has done but if he can ever manage to put out more material like this he could actually get to be there. Until then I guess its more raps about
