My Thoughts on Hip-hop shenanigans at the VMAs

Okay so in between the boring parts of True Blood I caught some of the VMA's and by now I am done with award shows. I feel like they're pompous and just so the same people can have their egos stroked rather than truly awarding ingenuity and pointing out things that the masses might have missed while they were busy in their respective shells.

First thing- anyone who really like this Tyler the

Something new...

Check my links if you haven't in a while you will find some interesting things. Just recently I added YAPPARIHIPHOP.COM a Japanese hp-hop site. It's confusing but there is English on the site so you can see what's going on internationally.

Now I have been erratic lately but I must shout out my man Japiro for making number one with his new Baltimore collaboration with Al Great, Duce Wayne, Eddie

Why the BET awards don't matter

I know, I'm a hater, get over it. But honestly, the BET awards while a half decent spectacle, don't mean anything. The only time most people over 25 actually watch the channel is for this show so to think it might represent the actual feelings about black people is ridiculous. Beyond that, there are no real criteria for actually winning an award and by the end of August I can tell you who will

Breaking Down the B.E.T. Awards- Nominees part 4

Now on to one of my favorite categories, the best new artist category. Unlike past years, all of the artists nominated this year actually have put albums out in some form. The most surprising thing is the fact that Justin Bieber is nominated, you know the label is kicking out some cash for that.

Justin Bieber - I'm going with Bieber just because he is in the category and he seemes birthed in a

Breaking Down the B.E.T. Awards- Nominees part 3

the next category is always one of the worst because most times there aren't enough artists to actually qualify or who have done anything worth being nominated. This year is no exception and with so few females being promoted in the world of hip-hop it seems especially barren. (note-I did say promoted because there are plenty of women in hip-hop toiling away underground.)

Nicki Minaj- She is

Breaking Down the B.E.T. Awards- Nominees part 2

The Next Category is the best Male R and B category and to me there are some surprises as to the nominees however, I doubt Raheem Devaughn is going to win. Let's get to it.

Trey Songz is the favorite in the category to me. He has had the hottest year in r and b since Ne-yo debuted about 4 years ago. With the amount of spins he is getting now he really is killing it right now.

Usher- This new

Breaking Down the B.E.T. Awards- Nominees

I'm going to start with the best Female R and B category. The nominees here aren't surprising in the least excpet for Melanie Fiona who hasn't got a chance to win.

Beyonce-Predicted winner easily. B is the queen of the hip-hop generation and her myriad of appearances just solidifies her position at the top of this list.

Rihanna- The second biggest act behind B right now is Rihanna who drops a

VH1 Hip-Hop Honors

Now I must say I have been a fan of the show and it's inception with a true highlight being the fact that new artists and other hip-hop icons perform songs that inspired them as they entered the game and occasionally by their contemporaries. In fact the entire show to me has always been predicated on that idea. This year, the format was slightly different because the show honored the label Def

B.E.T. has too many award shows...

I was looking at the site because I saw a post by Black Canseco over at his blog and I said let me see what buffoonery this "network" is promoting now. Of course for their annual "rap" awards show, there are like four nominees overall in 15 categories. Okay I am exaggerating because there are video director of the year, dj, and producer of the year categories that they couldn't find a way to

BET Awards 2009

So of course I have to make a post about the debacle that is the B.E.T. awards annual event. I only watched this garbage to see how they honored M.J.. I understand the difficulties of trying to change a show with a short time frame, but there could have been some simple alterations that would have made it better. Now I'm not going to be completely negative because there were some decent points,

Award Shows

It's funny, I wrote this post before the grammys and I know people are salivating over the "sweagger like us" performance because of the people who were in the performance and the lack of standards that perceive today's hip-hop fans have. But on tot he post. What happened to award shows? they used to be so hot, now they are afterthoughts. The last "BET" awards were hot garbage. The production
