How do we really see women?

I'm starting to think a lot of guys either really don't respect women or don't care who they are at all. Look I understand that often times music is oversimplified but it's getting ridiculous to the point where every song that is meant for the radio that is designed to appeal to women is only about them as relation to money and how much you can give them or if they're worth a certain dollar

Radio better listen up- Going on on WERQ 92Q FM

This quick video tells the truth right here about what goes on in the radio industry, especially in Baltimore, MD. I took the station off of my dial a long time ago, but I dropped all of the urban stations because I don't want to hear the same thing several times a day anyway. She's right Future does suck, and to get on Baltimore radio, you have to let the station DJ's be your manager or

Damn...I can't knock the breakfast Club though...

Look I like Charlamagne the God and he's probably right about Lil Mama needing to really do some more because she gets arrogant and cocky. Her list of accolades is very short, however I do believe that because she isn't sexy and in the "in" crowd or what Young Money is doing she doesn't get promoted in any type of way. Her album was better than Nicki Minaj's because it was actually about

Guess what Ny Ny we baaackkk...

So almost 5 years ago, Jay-z proclaimed that New York was back on the Kingdom Come album. Honestly, it felt like there could be a revival, you had Jim Jones and the Dip-set holding it down and 50 Cent was still riding high. However, the momentum could not continue and thus it died right with 'Superman'. A couple years later, Jay-z tried again to revive the New York feel on D.O.A. but alas, while

The Missy Effect

Now I've been meaning to get to this for a while just because I think it's kind of sad/funny. We all know Missy is a hip-hop icon and probably the biggest female hip-hop/pop act of the late 90's early 2000's. Everything she touched was hot like fire and her connections to Timbaland made her an even hotter commodity. Not the best rapper, she could make songs and maximized her potential by

Making songs for the women or towards women....

I know the title of this post might seem confusing at first glance. I mean everyone knows if you want to sell records you gotta make songs for women because they buy records, they go to clubs and they get it popping. What do you mean by songs "towards" the women? I'm going to explain in detail but let's break down the idea we're talking about here.

One of the more famous Tupac quotes is the

New Guest Blog- Why I don't Listen to the Radio

Okay, so today's blog is brought to you by a new friend of As is Hip-Hop, Bea Lesaca of Hard Knock radio. Hopefully, there will be more to come from her in the future.

Has Hip Hop Stopped?
Turning on my radio used to be an exciting experience. I remember before being eager to switch on the stereo & put it on blast, very eager to listen to new Hip Hop jams about to hit the airwaves.

Is a Hit song a Good song?

Now this stems from something my man NC-17 sent to me on twitter asking about South rappers making hit songs. It got me to thinking does a song that ends up being a smash always have to be a good song. The answer simply is no. The reason's why are a little different.First of all, this is one of those personal things for the most part. If you don't like the song for the most part you are not going
