Generation of Love - No Beef, No Criticism, and YOLO

I almost forgot I wanted to give my take on what happened with Nicki Minaj, Wayne, Rosenberg, and Hot 97 at the Summer Jam over this past weekend in New York. The reason why i really remembered and got irritated was because Angela Yee and DJ Envy of Power 105- possibly the best interview and morning show crew just because of Charlamagne the God who speaks his mind- decided to give their

You aStupid Hoe

Nicki minaj actually released a video for this adhd induced song. Honestly, Nicki is very unique and I can give her credit for that but all of the little cartoon gimmickery is old to me, especially when it's so ridiculously overused. This video also has nice color and it does have unique style to it as well, but it is too unfocused for my own personal tastes. Once again, it's something that shows

Common v Drake - My Take

So the buzz this year so far is the feud between Common and Drake which recently popped off, first with Common dropping "Sweet" which was full of subliminal shots, Drake tweeting, then Common going all in on the same beat as Drake's latest feature. I am always of the mind that beef can push people to do their best especially in hip-hop. I would have liked to see a lot more subliminal shots before

Album Review- Drake- Take Care

So Drake's eagerly awaited follow-up album "Take Care" has leaked and if this is indeed the album, it might just be the best r and b album of the year. That's right, this isn't a hip-hop album in the strictest sense. His first one wasn't either but it's still surprising. So here is my album review of Take Care.

Of course he starts out with singing, though it isn't his on "Over My Dead Body"

Worst line from The Carter IV

So I found another post through various sources about the Carter IV, but more specifically the 60 worst individual lines on the album. Since a lot of dudes like Wayne now this is a pretty good assessment of what he has been doing in the past few years. See a lot of people tell me I should like Wayne because they say I like lyrics-which is true, but the problem that I have always had with Wayne is

Album Review- Lil Wayne- The Carter IV

Some albums you just know what you're going to get before you even press play on the first track so you're not really disappointed when you don't get that goose bump from something being ill, you just shrug and keep it moving. I've felt like that with a lot of albums recently with two exceptions, the Carter 4 isn't one of them. I haven't been a big Wayne fan for years and this album is a shining

Album Review- DJ Khaled- We the Best Forever

So the southern replacement for DJ Clue is back with yet another compilation, this time, not on Def Jam but further affiliated with Young Money/Cash Money which I guess  means he is no longer the president of def Jam south (?). DJ Khaled is back with his yearly compilation of the same artists with similar beats. Not looking for a cohesive album, this should be a decent collection of street/radio

Album Review- Nicki Minaj- Pink Friday

So this is the most anticipated album left to drop this year by far after Kanye's latest. Nicki has barraged us with verses and features for the past two years and to this point, her stock was even higher than fellow Young Money label mate Drake's. Finally, the Barbies can rejoice with the release of Pink Friday.

The second single, "Right Thru Me" is currently in rotation heavy, and while it

Let's talk Bow wow

Now I was asked to do a review of Bow Wow's latest mixtape, Green Light 3, but I don't review mixtapes. However, listening to it did make me think about how his career has progressed and his standing in the game.

First of all let me say that Bow wow is hip-hop. Yes, he represents or shall I say represented, the youngest of us who wanted some music to listen to. It was unoffensive and had good

C'mon son....

Honestly, I have some stuff I want to talk about regarding Bow wow, partly because someone asked me to. However, this one thing is kind of annoying because he's trying to act like he is some individual who he isn't.

Now, Bow starts bitching because he says he didn't want to be Lil Bow wow...He wanted to be what? a gangster? You were a little boy- someone should have had you acting like a

The Source Power 30 for 2010

So i was perusing the hip-hop magazines at the market, cause I refuse to pay for these ass kissing editors and writers; and this month's Source featured the power 30 issue. I generally don't have a problem with them doing this, I'd prefer if they dig into the details of this more during the year and really dig into what makes these people worthy of being the barometers of hip-hop success.

The problem with Dissing Nicki

So in the highly competitive world of female hip-hop there is a new battle emerging as one female looks to actually be able to get a push and have a chance to be successful. Hell, the last one had to be Trina and hers has been fleeting at best. Remy Ma and Jacki-O had quick but promising careers cut short quick due to criminal activity and label bullshit.

So the biggest and most buzzed about

Album Review- Drake- Thank Me Later

So it's finally here and I'm trying to be extra positive because I know I can seem like a hater. However, I'm rooting for Drake because he is the first guy since Kanye West to be a new artist who seems like a normal guy, albeit a little whiney. Being in the profile has led to high expectations and on the surface most of Drake's intended audience won't find anything wrong with this album, but if

Breaking Down the B.E.T. Awards- Nominees part 4

Now on to one of my favorite categories, the best new artist category. Unlike past years, all of the artists nominated this year actually have put albums out in some form. The most surprising thing is the fact that Justin Bieber is nominated, you know the label is kicking out some cash for that.

Justin Bieber - I'm going with Bieber just because he is in the category and he seemes birthed in a

Ready For

So finally coming up next month is the debut from Hip-hop's Young Money Darling, Drake. He has peppered the airwaves with singles over the past 18 months and had a "critically acclaimed" mixtape (yawn) now it's time to see if he can put it together for an actual studio album. Sales are going to be incredibally easy to come by i think just because of the machine and hype behind him since Weezy F.

Nicki Minaj- The Ultimate Swagger Jacker

Now my man NC-17 is going to give me hell about this one because he is a huge Young Money fan but I have come to the conclusion that Nicki Minaj is a thief. Lola Luv was right when she said Nicki doesn't have her own style because she doesn't. You can look and chart what she has done so far and it is all marketing wizadry that the 'fans' forget who she was just months ago.

Nicki Started off as

New Jae Millz

So Jae Millz has a song out and a hood or street video. I like Millz as a rapper but I don't think he will ever be successful on a major level because I don't see him being able to write singles and get them across, but we shall see. Funny thing is, I swear he's talking about niggas like Baby with lines like: "Lock me with the wildebeasts I'm much more than these males I got bars they got

Too good for the Freshmen of 2010?

So Nicki Minaj comes up with this bullshit explanation on why she and Drake weren't on the cover of XXL for the freshmen 10 for this year...MTV ShowsSo basically you think that you deserved a cover before now and because of that you're going to turn it down now? If I had a magazine named XXL you wouldn't find them in or on it ever again how about that. Who are these spoiled ass artists who think

Nicki Minaj and Lola Love, the new Kim and Foxy?

I was watching a "freestyle" by Ms. Lola Love and the thought came to me that she is more of a Foxy Brown clone when compared to miss Nicki the Ninja who has honed the Lil' Kim image to a T. Remember this? Now I know all the fellas out there my age definately remember seeing this image. Hell half of the albums Kim sold were off of this picture right here:Kim and Foxy were the polar opposites of

Album Review- Young Money- We Are Young Money

So here we go, finally the Young Money label/crew has completed the long delayed album, just in time for the last minute Christmas rush and itunes gift cards. A larger crew, Young Money is made up of Lil Cuckee, Young Twist (i guess), Tyga, Gudda Gudda, Mack Maine, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Jae Millz, and Shanelle, the token singer. The lead single, "Every Girl" came out before last year's spring break
